A missing SSD is not always dead. First find out whether the problem is its connection, file system, controller, or the drive itself, then choose the least risky recovery path.
Stop writing to the SSD, then check whether BIOS, Disk Management, or Disk Utility can see its correct capacity. If it is visible, scan it with Disk Drill or image it first if it behaves erratically. If no computer can detect it, skip software plus contact an SSD recovery lab.
Do not initialize, format, erase, run CHKDSK, reinstall the operating system, or update SSD firmware. Each action can alter recoverable data. If the files are irreplaceable, leave the SSD powered off until you choose a recovery plan.

A loose SATA cable, weak USB adapter, dirty connector, or unpowered enclosure can make a healthy SSD look dead. Rule out the simple hardware path before running scans or changing partitions.
The SSD may be online yet missing a drive letter, mounted incorrectly, or shown with a damaged file system. System tools reveal its capacity, partition state, plus whether recovery software can access it.
